Krachel Greenwood
Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Utah
Krachel joined the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Utah in December of 2007. She graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelors degree in Communications. Her professional career began at KCEC-TV, a community-based television station in St. George, UT. Krachel then transferred to KTVX (ABC 4) in Salt Lake City where she would spend the next four years, and seeing first hand the stories that would change our nation, such as the Elizabeth Smart Kidnapping case and the fall of the World Trade Towers on September 11, 2001.
Krachel moved to Cheyenne, WY in 2003 to become Executive Producer of KGWN, and later News Director. While working in Cheyenne she worked closely with the Special Friends program and even headed up a weekly segment featuring a child looking for a mentor.
In 2005 she returned to the Beehive State to produce the 9:00 pm news for KSTU (Fox 13). She decided to leave the daily grind of reporting bank robberies and murders in search of a career that would be more fulfilling and says she has found that with Make-A-Wish. It is the mission of the Make-A-Wish Foundation to grant wishes to children with life-threatening medical experiences to enrich the human experience through hope, strength and joy. Last year, in Utah alone, 140 wishes were granted. That’s an average of 3-4 wishes a week! The average wish costs $5,000 in cash, and the Foundation exists only because of generous donations from individuals, corporations, schools and other youth groups, as well as money that is generated from grants and special events, both internal and external.

Rolf Koecher
An Editor's view: Major public relations disasters, and how to avoid them.
From Watergate to Utah's battle over school vouchers, a review of things that have gone woefully wrong and how to prevent the same mistakes: 1. How a U.S. President was hounded from office. And why a Wall Street tycoon fell from his perch as a media darling, ending up as a "greenmailer" and a man without a company. 2. It did happen here: How an entire community was duped by flag-waving, patriotic songs, Boy Scouts marching and the chanting of slogans to unwittingly clamor for an end to freedom of the press. 3. Why a U.S. Congressman, a county judge and two district attorneys were thrown out of office after holding their positions for years. When the voters get confused, everybody loses. 4. When life hands you a no-win bombshell: Choosing between your job or going to jail for bribing a foreign government. 5. One of the ugliest chapters in recent history: How the Utah Supreme Court saved the state's sanity in the battle over school vouchers. 6. Things to do and not to do: A survival guide for those in public relations.
